Salon Spotlight: Bronzmopolitan

We caught up with one of our Evolver’s, Christy, the owner and operator of the Bronzmopolitan Spray Tan Bar in Scottsdale, AZ.

Describe what you do in less than 150 characters. Go.

I run THE most fun Spray Tan Salon in Arizona! I meet fantastic people and provide them with a pleasant salon experience and flawless tan. At Bronzmo we believe happy hour is every hour! With every tan you receive a complimentary alcoholic beverage. Your choice of champagne, wine or beer! I run the day-to-day operations at the salon, make sure all of our employees are rock stars, and do lots of behind the scenes work like web design, social media, and more!

What was the inspiration for your career route?

I absolutely LOVED the way spray tans made me feel. Instant confidence in such little time, what a concept! I am a firm believer in protecting your skin from harmful UV rays, the esthetician in me always knew I wanted in on this golden industry to spread awareness that there IS a safer way to tan!

 

What is the most memorable milestone in your airbrush business so far?

Making it through a pandemic is a huuuge memorable milestone, talk about the unknown but we made it through the scariest time. We were fresh business owners, months in and then we had to close for a temporary unknown time. We made it! 

 

 

Where do you see yourself in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years?

I see myself with multiple locations across the valley, possibly out of state. I have clients begging me all the time to open more locations! 

 

Do you have any advice for other professionals considering getting started in the airbrush industry?

Be prepared to put in a lot of your time and energy. Do your research and educate yourself in every way possible. Seek an educational training/certification program so you are 100% confident in your craft. Experiment with different products/machines etc. until you find one you are comfortable with + amazing results + YOU LOVE! Take time to love & understand the ingredients in your solution and be ready to educate at any point in time. 

 

 

What is one major challenge that you’ve had to overcome in your career? How did you overcome it?

Early on, I found it difficult to hire reliable employees. Genuine people can be hard to come by, but if you do your due diligence, you can find amazing employees who care for your business (almost) as much as you do!

Success, to me, looks like a fulfilling balance between personal growth, meaningful relationships, and making a positive impact on the world. It’s about setting and achieving goals that align with my values, continually learning, and helping others along the way. Success also includes finding joy in the process, not just the outcome, freedom of time and feeling a sense of purpose in what I do.
